How to Get to Lavezares
Four ways in. Fly to Catarman and take the van, come overland from Calbayog or Allen, or cross by RORO ferry from Luzon.
By Air
- Fly to Catarman National Airport (Northern Samar)
- From Manila: 1.5 hrs direct (Cebu Pacific / PAL)
- From Cebu: 1 hr
From Catarman
- Van or bus to Lavezares (1 hr)
- Vans depart Catarman terminal regularly
- Tricycles available at Lavezares for local trips
By Ferry
- RORO ferries: Allen → Matnog, Sorsogon
- Then overland via Samar to Lavezares
- Best for travelers from Luzon by road
By Land
- From Calbayog: 3.5 hrs via Catarman
- From Allen: 2 hrs via Pan-Philippine Highway
- Accessible by private vehicle year-round
The Best Time to
Visit
Six dry months carry the beaches and the island crossings. The wetter half of the year is quieter, greener, and runs the town's biggest festival.
Peak Season (Mar to Aug)
Dry, sunny months with calm seas. The best window for beaches, island-hopping, and the Biri Island crossing. The Bangkaton boat race runs in August.
Off-Season (Sep to Feb)
Wetter, cooler months with occasional coastal rain. Waterfalls and inland attractions are at their lushest, and the Pinonayan Festival fills January.
What to Bring
Cash, sun cover, and something waterproof. Most of it is hard to buy once you are out on the coast.
